Hamilton’s Hits and Pits of 2015

Feels like just yesterday we were poppin’ bottles and welcoming 2015. The past year has been a whirlwind, but we’re proud to have witnessed some major transformations in our beloved home town. It seems like each year just keeps getting better.

On the heels of 2016, we’re taking a look back to the newsworthy moments in pop culture. Check out our hits and pits inspired from the last twelve months.

Hits

Hamilton finally has access to the well renowned driving service that is Uber.

Hamilton’s food scene stepped up its game with these restaurant openings: Mesa, Salt Lick, Mezcal, Knead, Lake Rd, Ark and Anchor, Nellie James, Burger Priest, State and Main, Black Sheep Snack Bar, Except for Kenneth, Hambrgr, the Mule, Mattson & Co., Butcher and the Vegan…just to name a few of our favourites.

After a long season of being shuttled to different stadiums, Ivor Wynn’s facelift is finally done. Oskee Wee Wee!

Collective Arts Brewery took over the long legacy that was the Lakeport Stench…Brewery.

Justin Bieber dropped an album that converted hardcore Slipknot fans into Beliebers.

You can now have a cold beer  while  getting groomed at Architect Hair Design.

Pits

Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Zach Collaris, was out for the season with a knee injury (bright side – we still beat the Argos.)

Hamilton’s Nicole Arbour earned 24 hours of fame and a seat on The View for being outrageously unfunny.

Just when we thought the arena couldn’t be more of a graveyard…. Bulldogs become an OHL team.

A year full of celebrity heartbreak:  Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale, Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton, Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green.

…But the one that really hit us where it hurts? Ben & Jenn.

Steve Harvey’s epic fail at The Miss Universe pageant, where he crowned the wrong winner. Come on people, can we let him live?!

And Finally, sad news that Ottawa Street’s The Edit, Auntie Boom’s, Granny’s Attic Treasures and Sinfully Sweet have announced that they will be closing their doors for good in early January.
